Frankfurt, Germany, July 9, 1980: Jack Nicklaus warms up for the British Open by playing in an exhibition match with three top German golfers at the Frankfurt Golf Club. The reigning U.S. Open champion, who also conducted a golf clinic at Frankfurt, birdied the last two holes to finish with a par 71. Nicklaus tied for fourth in the British Open at Muirfield the following week, but added a win in the PGA Championship before the year was out. In a PGA career stretching from 1962 into the current century, he compiled a total of 73 official tour victories (and 10 more on the Senior Tour), and finished second in 58 other events.
